- Please introduce yourself and your business.
I am Habiba Sad by name, born, brought up and presently living in Kano State, Nigeria. I am a Lawyer and also an entrepreneur, business handle @beebah_ladies_world. I am an online modest wears seller, which are imported from Dubai based on pre-order.
- What inspired you to start working from home/Office? Did anyone in particular inspire you?
What inspired me to start this business was back then when I finished my law school before embarking on NYSC, I realized everything I needed I had to asked for it, even common recharge card, I disturbed almost everyone, (m
y mum and siblings). Then I started thinking “Habiba’s life can’t co
ntinue like this, there has to be some changes” Then I was an internet freak, always on social media and I see how people advertise their businesses. Then I told myself, maybe I should also give online business a try. I started my NYSC and with my first 3months allowance and contribution from my mum, I started this business
- Is your family supportive of you being a working mother or a mompreneur?
Yes, my family is very supportive
- What are the main challenges you face as an Entrepreneur?
Like I said earlier, the business is an based, 90% of my customers are online. So the main challenge to me is earning their trust, there are so many scammers online, so for me to convince them to send their hard earned money to me and wait for a week to receive the item, and the explanation that follows when the goods didn’t arrive the day I mentioned due to shipment delay was the main challenge for me.
- Describe a typical working day. Are there specific times in the day that you work on your business?
Apart from the business, I am also working. So the time I have to respond to enquiries and post on social media page is before/after working hours. That is before 10:00am and after 5:00pm then in between this time when am free and on weekends.
- What makes Your Business different from your competitors?
Hmmmm..I believe it is in the fact that our wears are for all women and for all body types, no age restrictions and whether you are slim, thick etc, we have something for you to wear and feel unique and comfortable wearing them
- what helps keep you motivated?
During the time the business wasn’t going smoothly or I am faced with challenges, and I am a bit down, I just remember the reasons I started and how far Allah has brought me, another major one that keeps me moving is the fact that I now have people that look up to me, seeks for my advice and see me as their role model, they motivated me to actually do better.
- Where would you like to see your business in the future?
Currently, I send Abayas, Jalabiyas and Kimonos to some countries, however, in the nearest future, I want it to be global and I should be listed on a major platforms as an Abaya seller, the likes of Jumia, Konga and the rest.
- What advice would you give to upcoming entrepreneurs?
My advice to the upcoming entrepreneurs is to believe in themselves and withstand the challenges, and endure even though they are in early stages.
