Join me in this interview session with the CEO of Kira Aura Enterprise in person of Mrs Sadiq Shakira.
- Please introduce yourself and your business
My name is Shakira Sadiq the CEO of Kira’s Aura Enterprise. I am a mother of 2 and a Career woman, working 8am to 5pm, Mondays to Fridays in the Sales function in a Pharmaceutical Company.
Kira’s Aura was birthed in 2017 set up for wholesale and retail sales and distribution of varieties of Nuts like (Pecan Nuts, Walnuts, Pistachios, Walnuts, Cashew nuts, Macadamia & Brazil nuts), Seeds like (Pumpkin Seeds, Sesame seeds, Chia Seeds & Flaxseeds), Dried Berries & Fruits, Organic Spices, own-manufactured snacks like Kulikuli. We also provide consulting services on healthy living.
- What Inspired you to start working? Did anyone inspire you
I have always been a Nut and Spice freak for ages now. I do lots of mixes with spices and the knowledge gap on the health benefits of Nuts in Nigeria is what inspired me to make these products available to Nigerians, to drive awareness around the health benefits of Nuts to people and make them accessible too.
- Is your family supportive of you being a working mother/woman?
My family has always supported me since inception as a career mother and this made it easy for my dream of Kira’s Aura to come to life when it did. A big kudos to my hubby and my 2 lovely children.
- What are the main challenges you face as a mompreneur?
Inadequate time with my children during weekends. They are growing and am stylishly missing out at this crucial stage of their growth.
- Describe a typical working day. Are there specific times in the day that you work on your business?
As an 8am to 5pm working mother with a business, this is how my day runs. I leave my house 5:45am in the morning, get to my office for 8am. My break time is between 12pm to 1pm and that is the time I use to follow up on my business. I close most times 6pm and embark on a long drive from Lagos mainland to the island. It is while on this journey that I review daily activities at the store with the Sales Executive.
- What makes your business different from your competition?
The passion, broad knowledge of the space I play in and the accessibility of products at one visit stands me out from competition.
- What keeps you motivated?
My Kira’s Aura Kulikuli. This product has given me great Feedback from clients. It’s uniqueness and after taste leaves you yearning for more.
- Where would you like to see your business in the future?
In the next 5yrs, I want to see Kira’s Aura Kulikuli to be an international brand and the biggest Kulikuli in Nigeria and in 8-10yrs in Africa. Also, I want Kira’s Aura Enterprise to be the biggest Nuts, Spices & Seeds store in Nigeria
- What advice would you give to upcoming entrepreneurs/mompreneurs?
Follow your dreams, don’t quit. Hang in there and ensure you mingle with positive like minds. The journey is always rough at the beginning but gives joy at the end. Equip yourselves with all the arsenal you need to succeed and compete only with yourself
